Tap a transition to play it. Six of 25, drawn in your browser — the app previews each one on your own footage.

Transition styles

Tap the marker between two clips and the Between these clips sheet opens, with the transitions grouped into families. Each one previews on your footage rather than on a sample clip.

Whatever you pick, your clips keep their length. The overlap a transition needs comes from unused footage around the cut, so nothing you kept gets trimmed to make room.

02 · Zoom

Zoom punch-ins, with a sound on each one

Sometimes the best transition is no cut at all: a quick punch-in on the speaker. Open Zoom in the Edit panel, add a zoom at the playhead and pick the move, how far it goes and how it eases. Each one sits on its own Zoom lane, where you can see how deep it goes.

After Punch it for me places the punches (Premium), Voxcene can suggest a sound for each one. Tick the ones you want and they are made for you, for a couple of AI credits each.

  • Punch and Pull back on every plan
  • Push, Drift, Breathe and Whip on Premium
  • Depth, and an Instant, Ease or Linear curve

03 · Beat

Cut on the beat

Select your music and tap Read. The app finds the bass hits and the tempo, then offers Cut my clips there, which splits your clips on the beat so the cuts land with the music.

You can add a transition to those cuts or keep them hard. On a fast track, a plain cut on the beat often hits harder than any effect. On Premium, Zoom with the music can also punch in on the bass, on the bar or towards the drop.

  • Read the music finds the bass hits
  • Cut my clips there puts the cuts on the beat
  • 1 AI credit per track, once
  • Zooms with the music on Premium

FAQ

Questions people ask

How do I add a transition between clips on iPhone?

In Voxcene, tap the marker between two clips on the timeline, pick a transition, set how long it lasts, and tap Apply to this cut.

How many transitions are there?

25, in six families: Fades, Slides, Wipes, Shapes, Gradients and Lights. There's also a hard cut, which is no transition at all.

Will a transition make my video shorter?

No. Your clips keep their length. The overlap a transition needs is taken from unused footage around the cut, never by trimming your clips.

Can I use the same transition everywhere?

Yes. Pick it once and tap Apply to every cut. There is also a one-tap Dip to black — every cut, and Remove from every cut takes them all off again.

Why can't a cut take a transition?

A transition needs a little spare footage on both sides of the cut. If the clips are too short, have no footage left around the cut, or one of them has its speed changed, the app tells you so instead of trimming anything.

Can I cut my video on the beat of the music?

Yes. Select the music and tap Read. Voxcene finds the bass hits (1 AI credit per track, once) and offers Cut my clips there, which splits your clips on the beat. Transitions are not placed for you; add them to the cuts you want.

What is the most popular transition?

The crossfade, where one shot dissolves into the next, followed by a dip to black between scenes. Slides and wipes feel faster and suit Reels and TikTok; keep them short, around 0.3 seconds.

Try a crossfade on your next edit.
