Beat sync templates

Templates that cut to the beat

Six of Voxcene's video templates are timed to their music. The tempo was measured from the track, and each cut sits on a beat. Drop your clips in and they land with the music, so you aren't tapping along or nudging frames.

Hook Reel · Phonk · 128 BPM · 0:11

Hook Reel's three parts on its track's beat grid. The taller lines are the first beat of each bar, and both cuts land on a beat. Drawn from the template's own numbers, not a capture.

01 · Timing

How beat sync works

The tracks that come with the templates were measured, not labelled by ear. We traced the moments where the sound hits across the whole file and scored each possible tempo against them. The best fit became the template's beat grid: 128 BPM for the phonk, 80 for the lo-fi, 115 for the upbeat pop and 180 for the percussion.

Each part's length is then a whole number of beats, counted from the first. Whatever you put in a part, the cut to the next one arrives on the beat. The app's own checks reject any cut more than 25 milliseconds off, which is roughly where a cut stops feeling like part of the music.

Two tracks, an ambient pad and a cinematic riser, have no steady pulse. Quote Card, Day In The Life, Product Drop and Podcast Clip use those, so they aren't beat-cut, and the app doesn't pretend they are.

  • The tempo is measured from the track itself
  • Each part is a whole number of beats
  • Every cut within 25 ms of a beat
  • No steady pulse means no beat grid, and we say so

Before / After · Percussion · 180 BPM

One cut, on beat 12 of a 180 BPM track. The wipe from Before to After lands with the hit. Drawn from the catalogue's numbers.

02 · Your song

Your own song: Read the music

A template's track comes with it, because its cuts were timed to that track. If you want to cut to a song of your own, start from your clips instead. Add the song from your Files or Your sound library, open Audio and tap Read the music.

The app tells you how many places it found where the bass moves. Tap Cut my clips there and your video is split at each one, so each new cut lands with the music. If you'd rather cut by hand, tap Just show it to see the notes under the music lane. More on music in add music to a video.

  • Read finds where the bass moves
  • Cut my clips there splits on those hits
  • Just show it marks them under the lane instead
  • 1 AI credit per track · Undo puts it back

03 · Punch Premium

Punch in on the beat

Cuts aren't the only thing that can follow the music. Zoom with the music uses the same track to place punch-in zooms for you. Pick a pattern and you'll see how many punches will land before they go on the timeline. Spots with no picture under them are skipped, and so are spots too close to a punch you already placed. A single undo takes them all back off.

Having them placed for you is part of Premium. You can still change any punch's depth afterwards by tapping it on the timeline.

  • On the bass: a punch where the low end moves
  • On the bar: a punch at the top of each bar
  • Half time: one long push every two bars
  • Build to the drop: punches that grow with the track

FAQ

Questions people ask

What is a beat sync video?

It's a video whose cuts land on the beat of its music, so each new shot comes in with a hit. Voxcene's beat-cut templates do the timing for you. Each part is a whole number of beats long, which means the cut between two of your clips falls on the beat.

Which Voxcene templates cut to the beat?

Six of the ten: Hook Reel (Phonk, 128 BPM), Story Time (Lo-fi, 80 BPM), Vlog Intro and Tutorial Opener (Upbeat, 115 BPM), Before / After and Soundbite Cut (Percussion, 180 BPM). The other four use ambient or cinematic tracks with no steady beat, so there's nothing to cut them to.

Can I sync my clips to my own song?

Yes, with Read the music. Add the song to a project and tap Read the music, and Voxcene finds where the bass moves. Cut my clips there then splits your clips at those hits. It costs 1 AI credit per track, so it uses Premium's monthly credits or the Free plan's 20 starter credits. Basic has no credits.

If I change a template's song, do the cuts follow?

No. A template's cuts were timed to its own track. If you swap the music, the existing cuts stay where they are. Use Read the music on the new song to add cuts on its beat.

Does Voxcene have trending TikTok sounds?

No. There's no stock or trending music library in the app. Use music you have the rights to, from Files or Your sound library, or add a sound inside the app you post to.

Can I make a velocity edit?

Not in this version. Speed sets one steady rate per clip, from 0.5× to 2×, and there are no speed ramps. What you can do is split a clip and give each piece its own speed.

Are beat sync templates free?

Three of them are. Hook Reel, Story Time and Vlog Intro are among the four templates that are free on every plan. Tutorial Opener, Before / After and Soundbite Cut open on Basic and Premium.

Pick a template with a pulse and drop your clips in.
